A Night Wearing High Heels

Re-imagining personal memories as animated typography

The challenge was to abstract the past experience of "pride" in the form of looping animated GIF. The personal memory I chose to represent was myself performing on stage. The image I wanted to portray was a spotlight, slowly revealing myself (the type) standing on the dark stage. 

Custom-made typeface 

At the beginning of the process, I formed the phrase saying "A Night Wearing High Heels", and generated a custom typeface through a pre-made interface called METAFLOP.  I decreased the pen width and narrowed down the corners to mimic the sharpness of high heels. 

Looping animated GIF - Coded in Processing

After creating a custom font, I imported it into Processing - a simplified script environment for creating interactive media and motion graphics. Once the motion and colour were added through lines of coding, I exported the files in frames and brought them into Photoshop to create a looping animated GIF.
